Dusty has been actively involved with Vail Valley real estate and the growth of the community for many years. He is a graduate engineer with a Bachelor of Science degree from Clarkson College in Potsdam, New York, and worked on the NASA space exploration program in preparation for the first lunar landings. In the early 70's, while studying for his Master's Degree at the University of Colorado, Dusty took a break to teach skiing in Vail for one season. When more and more of his ski school clientele expressed envy in his lifestyle, he found a new career-finding Vail property for his friends and clients. He and his wife Karen still enjoy taking early morning powder runs with these first owners.
In 1993 Karen joined Dusty in real estate as the opportunities expanded from Vail Village to Beaver Creek, Cordillera, and Bachelor Gulch. Karen graduated from the University of Illinois. During these college years, she spent the summers working at a resort in Winter Park, Colorado, and she knew Colorado was where she wanted to live. She moved to Colorado right after graduation. Karen earned a Master's degree in Special Education and taught fifth grade and special education. She is a published author in the education field.
Dusty and Karen are active volunteers and contributors to the Vail community including: Ski Club Vail, Vail Valley Foundation Encore Club members supporting the 1999 Alpine Ski Championships, Bravo! Colorado, Vail Alpine Garden, Colorado Ski Museum, and Platinum donors to the Vilar Center, Beaver Creek's Performing Arts Center. In 1997 they received their company's distinguished community award for Realtors who contributed the most to their community.
Dusty and Karen received the Golden Eagle Award, awarded to the top ten sales people in their company, and have been multi-year recipients of the company's Eagle Award for top producers. Their success is based on a sincere interest in finding their customers that special place in the Vail Valley. Their office is in Beaver Creek, conveniently located in the Hyatt Hotel in the heart of the Pedestrian Village with ski lift access to Bachelor Gulch and Arrowhead.
