Dusty has been actively involved with Vail Valley real estate and the growth of the community for many years. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering (BSEE) from Clarkson College in Potsdam, New York, and worked on the Hughes Aerospace/California Institute of Technology NASA space exploration program in preparation for the first lunar landings. In the early 70’s, while studying for his master’s degree at the University of Colorado, Dusty coached the CU women’s tennis team to two trips to the NCAA finals and was an active advocate for Title IX, the Federal Government’s ground-breaking decision to fund women’s sports equally. After graduation, Dusty took a break to teach skiing in Vail for “one” season. When more and more of his ski school clientele expressed envy of his lifestyle, he found a new career—helping friends and clients with their desire to own Vail property—and made Vail his permanent home. He and his wife Karen still enjoy taking early morning powder runs with these first owners. Dusty continues to enjoy the Vail Valley lifestyle that originally attracted him to the area. His leisure activities include windsurfing, tennis, mountain biking, snowboarding and skiing and he still holds a level III certification (the highest level) with the Professional Ski Instructors of America.

In 1993, Karen joined Dusty in real estate as the opportunities expanded from Vail Village to Beaver Creek, Bachelor Gulch, Arrowhead and the surrounding neighborhoods.  Karen grew up in Illinois and graduated from the University of Illinois. During her college years, she spent the summers working at a resort in Colorado. She loved the Colorado lifestyle and knew Colorado was where she wanted to live. She moved to Colorado right after graduation. Karen earned a master’s degree in Special Education from the University of Northern Colorado and taught elementary grades and special education. She is co-author of the book Practical Portfolios: Reading, Writing and Math and Life Skills. She found that the skills she needed in teaching—organization, attention to detail, and working with people—translated well to her new profession. Karen enjoys windsurfing, snowboarding and mountain biking as well as hiking with and training her dog Max, a Blue Heeler/Australian Cattle Dog.Dusty and Karen DeLario

Dusty and Karen have been volunteers and contributors to the Vail community including Ski Club Vail Ski Swap, Vail Valley Foundation Encore Club supporting the 1999 Alpine Ski Championships, and Platinum donors to the VPAC , Beaver Creek’s performing art center. Dusty and Karen also received the Golden Eagle Award, awarded to the top ten sales people in the company, and have been multi-year recipients of the company’s Eagle Award for top producers. Their success is based on a sincere desire to help their friends and clients achieve their real estate goals whether buying or selling.
